Born in Brooklyn to a large Italian family, Thomas Mastrianni is about as New York as you can get! He developed a discriminating palate for pure authenticity as a result of being exposed to diverse ethnic tastes from the multi-cultural neighborhoods of his home town. His mom, who never served the same dish twice, piqued his curious creativity for cooking, while his grandfather, who exposed him to the family art of wine making, sparked Tom’s enthusiasm for wine. He quickly recognized the relationship between food and wine and grasped the concept of pairing at an early age.
By age 18, Tom was developing his culinary skills as a sous chef. It was here that his creative talents became apparent with such creations as Au Bon Chicken, Pignoli Crusted Blackened Swordfish and his ever so popular Mastro Burger. He traveled throughout Germany and France during the late 90’s sampling the regional fares and then spent the next four years touring California’s vineyards. He presently resides on Long Island, NY’s North Shore where he continues studying wines and honing his connoisseur’s palate.
